Bayern Munich’s difficult start to the Bundesliga season continued with a 0-0 draw against Hamburg on Friday.Louis van Gaal’s side have been in fine form on the European stage this season and claimed their third straight UEFA Champions League victory in midweek by beating Cluj.
However, they have struggled to climb above mid-table at home and Hamburg were always going to provide a stiff challenge in their latest domestic fixture.
Hamburg moved up to fifth in the standings last weekend after inflicting a first defeat of the season on surprise package Mainz.
But the eagerly-anticipated clash at the Imtech Arena failed to live up to expectations as it ended in a goalless stalemate.
Both teams will view the result as a missed opportunity as they look to stay in touch with the leading pack at an early stage of the campaign.
