The first green school in Romania, which is part of the Transylvania College, the former International School, with tuition in Romanian and English, was opened on Thursday, November 22, in Cluj-Napoca (western Romania), Mayor Emil Boc and Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Bucharest Martin Harris attending. The teachers and pupils met the two officials in the schoolyard and after the red ribbon was cut according to tradition, the guests visited the whole educational complex. The new wing of the college, which is solely built of ecological materials, is quite impressive right from the door. In the lobby there is the trunk of a big tree, which is a sign that nature and children will be here permanently in touch.
Cluj is an international city indeed and I am proud of your having a first-class, high quality international school here, in which English is used, Ambassador Martin Harris told the opening ceremony. Emphasis is now laid on the green, ecological school. It is quite important. The new generations must improve life on the plant in the future. I am impressed with this school, added the British Ambassador.
The sponsors are from Scotland and Cluj-Napoca and an important contribution to carrying out this project was made by the Nokia company, which was a member of the board of directors of the International School. The Transilvania Bank is one of the partners of the above-mentioned educational institution.
