This week, Peach Aviation welcomed its Route of the Week certificate with open arms (or closed peached fingers in this case) for the launch of services between Osaka Kansai and Miyazaki on 28 August. Holding the certificate is Isao Ono. SVP Commercial, VP Commercial Planning, and VP Marketing, according to www.anna.aero.Radom Airport in Poland celebrated with its first ever anna.aero certificate this week after winning the Cake of the Week competition in recognition of the culinary excellence presented at the launch of the airport’s first ever route launch, which was to Riga on the 1 September, a sector operated by airBaltic. Muscat Airport celebrated with their Route of the Week award this week, given in recognition of Cham Wings Airlines’ service from Damascus which commenced on 3 September. This was the Omani airport’s 63rd destination worldwide in a network spread across 31 countries.
Munich Airport celebrated receiving the Cake of the Week award this week, awarded for the superb individual ‘cakes’ presented to passengers as they arrived on the inaugural Flybe flight from Cardiff on 31 August. Posing with the certificate are Munich Airport’s Barbara Stadler, Airline Relationship Manager, and Martin Laubenthal, Director of Traffic Development.
On 10 September, Cluj-Napoca Airport celebrated the passing of one million passengers for the year-to-date, two months earlier when compared to 2014. To celebrate, Cluj “Avram Iancu” Airport, as it is also known, dressed in representative costumes of existing and future destination countries available from Cluj-Napoca. Namely, the countries you can reach so far are: Austria, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Belgium, Netherlands, UK, France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Israel, UAE and Romania. David Ciceo, MD of the Airport, commented by saying: “We are pleased that today, September 10, we can celebrate one million passengers for 2015 so far. Achieving this target much earlier than in previous years is proof of the continuous work of all those involved in airport development and its modernisation.”
On 9 September, Ryanair celebrated its eight millionth passenger to travel from its Bratislava base. The airline also announced it was seeing record forward bookings on its W15/16 schedule from Bratislava which will consist of 13 routes, including three new routes for winter which are Athens, Berlin Schönefeld and Madrid. Anna Sophia Medvecka, who is only 20 months old, was the lucky eight millionth passenger, who was travelling with her mother to Dublin. Speaking in Bratislava, Katarzyna Gaborec-McEvoy, Deputy Sales & Marketing Manager for Central & Eastern Europe at Ryanair, said: “Ryanair is delighted to celebrate this milestone on its routes from Bratislava. Ryanair commenced operations from the airport nearly 10 years ago, and since then the airline has seen a continuous growth in traffic development and demand.”
