CL Special: The Teams That Can Qualify For The Champions League Knockout Stages After Round 4 & How

With matchday 4 of this year’s Champions League coming up, a number of teams can book their ticket for the knockout stages of the tournament if results go their way. Goal.com takes a look at the possible scenarios in all eight groups.

In Group A, Champions League holders Inter are sitting in pole position to qualify for the first knock-out round. A win over Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday could send them into the next stage, but only if Twente and Werder Bremen draw in the other match in this group.

Elsewhere, Olympique Lyonnais are well on their way to the knockout stages. Les Gones have collected nine points from three games and a win against Benfica would be enough for the French side to progress.

In Group C, Manchester United, Valencia and Rangers appear to the three teams fighting it out for two spots in the next round. Matchday 4 won’t be decisive in this close group though.

Spanish powerhouse Barcelona currently top the table in Group D and can book their ticket for the next round if they manage to beat Copenhagen in Denmark and the match between Rubin Kazan and Panathinaikos ends in a draw.

Last year’s finalist Bayern Munich are the team to beat in Group E and the Bavarians are very much likely to secure a spot in the knock-out stages on Wednesday. They have so far accumulated nine points from three games and a win against CFR Cluj will be enough to send them through.

In Group F, reigning English champions Chelsea could book their ticket for the knockout stages if things go their way on Wednesday. They’ll secure progress if they beat Spartak Moscow, while Olympique de Marseille have to spill points against Zilina.

Real Madrid are considered one of the favourites for this year’s Champions League and Jose Mourinho’s men could very well make it to the first knockout stage on Wednesday. A win over Milan will be enough for the Merengues to progress from Group G.

Finally, Arsenal are very much likely to be the first team to progress from Group H. The London side have picked up the full nine points from their opening three games and a win on Wednesday will be enough to make it to the next round if Braga fail to beat Partizan.
