Goran Bregovic to bring Balkan music to Sibiu, Romania this summer

The well known Bosnian musician Goran Bregovic will perform, along with the Wedding and Funeral Orchestra, in Piata Mare in Sibiu, Romania on June 16. The concert will be held during the second night of the Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF), according to the organizersBregovic was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. His compositions, expanding from Balkan musical inspirations to innovative extremes, draw upon European classicism and Balkan rhythms. Goran Bregovic’s music carries Bosnian, Serbian and Romani themes and is a fusion of popular music with traditional polyphonic music from the Balkans, tango and brass bands.

During his concert in Sibiu, people can listen to some of his most well known songs, like “Tales and songs from weddings and funerals”, “Balkanica”, “Silence of the Balkans” , “Song book”, “Music for films”, “Ederlezi” or “Underground”. The concert will be preceded by the screening of “The Bear”, a movie directed by the Romanian director Dan Chisu, whose soundtrack belongs to the same Goran Bregovic. More about the artist.
