42-kilometre sector of the Transylvania Motorway will be opened on 1 December, Romania’s national day, and be the first to enter into use. Prime Minister Emil Boc announced the news today (Fri) and proposed that a marathon on the Campia Turzii – Gilau sector, in Cluj county be organised for that occasion, saying he would also run “a few kilometres.”A marathon is good for anyone’s health anytime,” Boc said today at the motorway. “If those who have to finish the work fail to do so, they will be the ones to run 42 kilometres,” Boc added. The US builder of the Transylvania Motorway said 80 per cent of construction work on the sector linking Campia Turzii and Gilau had already been completed. Work began in 2004.
