Sarah Kane”s “Cleansed” directed by Romanian Andrei Serban and produced by the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre will be staged in the 20th edition of the Santander Drama Festival, to be held October 14 – December 19. The Romanian production will be mounted twice, October 15 and October 16, at the Sports Complex of the Cantabria University, the Romanian Culture Institute (ICR) in Madrid reports. This Romanian-Spanish meeting is held with support from the Drama Auditorium of the Cantabria University, and in cooperation with Caja Cantabria. “Cleansed” is a show of fundamental symbols that reaches the inexpressible by a perfect science of relating archetypes with their opposition, which is barren reality. Torture, mutilations and death are cruel initiation trials that precede salvation, the final cleansing,” ICR Madrid says in explaining Serban”s staging.
