Romania to be member of UNESCO Executive Council

Romania is to become, starting this autumn, member of the Executive Council of UNESCO. ‘Romania is one of the countries with the greatest value at the level of this prestigious institution, with 31 positions on UNESCO World Heritage List. I stress that Romania signed all UNESCO conventions, including the one referring to the Immaterial Patrimony of Humanity. In 2005, UNESCO proclaimed the ritual dance ‘Calusul’ as a ‘masterpiece of the immaterial patrimony of humanity’, said Nicolae Manolescu, adding that approaches have been made for inscribing ‘Doina’ on UNESCO list, as well.
