Polish feature film, the big winner of Romania’s Comedy Cluj festival

Polish production The Citizen directed by Jerzy Stuhr was the big winner of this year’s edition of Comedy Cluj International Film Festival. The movie received the Best Picture award, and the prize for the Best Screenplay, according to Romania-Insider.com.The Awards Gala took place at Florin Piersic Cinema on Saturday evening, October 24.

The 2015 Comedy Cluj Excellence Award was given in memoriam to well-known actor Peter O’Toole. His daughter Kate O’Toole came to the festival to take the award.

Candela Peña won the Best Actress award, for her role in Sidetracked, and Zsolt Kovács got the Best Actor prize for the role played in For Some Inexplicable Reason. The latter also got a special mention from the jury.

A Hitman’s Solitude Before the Shot directed by Florian Mischa Böder won the Audience Award while French Who’s Up directed by Benjamin Bouhana got the award for Best Independent Short Film. Also, Chinese Treachery directed by Jake Balfour-Lynn received the award for Best Student Short Film.

This year’s edition of Comedy Cluj International Film Festival took place between October 16 and October 25.
