Beijing Genomics Institute explores potential of hub investment in Cluj-Napoca

Beijing Genomics Institute representatives have visited Cluj-Napoca as part of wider tour in southeastern Europe as the Chinese genomics company plans to open a new research hub in the region, according to Business-Review.eu.

The delegation of the company was welcomed by the deputy president of the Cluj County Council, Istvan Vaka.

 

“At present Cluj county holds all the assets for such a niche investment, such as the research in bioinformatics,” said Istvan Vakar.

 

The Chinese company is looking for a city that hosts a university and has a good medical infrastructure and supportive local authorities.

 

Beijing Genomics Institute was founded in 1999 as a research institute in the Human Genome Project.
