NATO International Summer School started in Cluj

The NATO International Summer School – NISS started on Monday in Cluj with 40 participants from 28 nations attending. NISS is aimed at promoting Cluj city on the international scene as world peace centre for a whole week, announced Agerpres.According to a release of the organizers, the guests with international fame include Eric Povel from NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division, Major Serge Stroobants from the Royal Military Academy in Brussels, Professor Alexander Moens from the „Simon Fraser” University of Vancouver (Canada), Antonia Colibasanu — Stratfor Regional Director Eurasia & International Marketing, and Romanian academics representing the Babes-Bolyai University, the West University of Timisoara, the Bucharest University, the „Nicolae Balcescu” Land Forces Academy in Sibiu.

The subjects approached at the NATO school conferences and workshops are related to international policy in a time challenged by instability, NATO as a major actor in maintaining peace, NATO’s open door policy — connections for the future, a.s.o.

The organizer of the event is Euro Atlantic Diplomacy Society (www.eadsociety.com), an NGO committed to offering young students the means, time and facilities required for setting in practice their abilities and knowledge acquired during academic studies, promoting interpersonal and intercultural communication, as well as cooperation, the organizers said.

The NATO International Summer School ends on August 7 with a conference that will also include the signing of the Peace Manifesto.
