Tosaint Ricketts knows how to make an impact.
The 23-year-old speedster entered FC Politehnica Timişoara’s weekend match against CFR Cluj in the 71st minute. The game was deadlocked at 1-1, and within eight minutes of stepping onto the pitch Ricketts struck for the game winner.
The Edmonton-born striker used his considerable pace to earn himself a place at Timişoara, with the Romanian side bringing him in over the winter after he impressed as an opponent while starring for former club MyPa of Finland.
It was his pace that allowed him to break free of his defender and nod in a rebound, Ricketts’ first goal for his new club in just his second appearance. He continued to terrorize the Cluj defense for the remainder of the match, creating a couple of other scoring chances in his brief time on the field.
