The Social Democratic Party (PSD) candidate for President Mircea Geoana, on Saturday Nov 7, continued his electoral tour in several localities in Transylvania (central western Romania) and went to Contanta County (south east), towards evening. When in Turda (Cluj County -central west), Geoana said that Bucharest had to fulfill its duties to Romania’s historical provinces. ‘My visit to Cluj has a profound address, namely the political Bucharest has still to honor a duty toward Moldavia (eastern historical province) since the Small Union (1859 – editor’s note) and toward Transylvania since the Great Union (1918 – editor’s note).

A group of priests, led by the Bishop of Ardeal Laurentiu Streza held the religious service, with archimandrite Paraian having been in the end buried in the cemetery of the monastery. The archimandrite has died on Thursday morning, after many months of suffering. He was a role model, a devoted Christian and in the same time a man who knew the reality of his time.
