Sulley Muniru will shine at Steaua Bucharest – Basarab Panduru

The former Steaua playmaker believes the younger brother of Sulley Muntari will excel at his new club, according to Goal.comSteaua Bucharest legend Basarab Panduru has predicted that former CFR Cluj midfielder Sulley Sariki Muniru will shine at the club in the coming season after completing his move there.

Muniru, who is the younger brother of AC Milan star Sulley Muntari, signed a four-year deal with Steaua on Thursday, and Basarab, who made name with the Militarii from 1991-1995, is confident that the youngster has what it takes to excel at the club.

„Muniru will be a success at Steaua Bucharest,” he began, speaking to DolceSports.

„He is a very young player who has risen slightly with CFR. I thought last season he was very sure of himself. He knows what to do when the ball comes to him.

„He can even grow more in his career, I am wondering who will partner him in midfield, they can bring [Nicolae] Stanciu or [Alexandru] Bourceanu because Muniru is pretty good with the ball on his feet.”

The 22-year-old signed for Cluj in June 2013 from Ghanaian side Liberty Professionals as a replacement for Modou Sougou, who left for Marseille.

Prior to that, he had trained with the youth team of Real Madrid.

He made 46 appearances with the Railway Men during his two-year stay with them and failed to score, although he did catch the attention of Udinese, Freiburg and other teams.

Steaua signed the player, who is very versatile, and can play anywhere in midfield for an amount of €850,000 from Cluj.

The budding talent is the first signing of new coach Mirel Radoi, and he is expected to help Steaua Bucharesti win the league trophy and also do well in their Uefa Champions League next season.

The Ghanaian featured for Cluj in their Europa League campaign during the 2013 season and has lots of experience despite his age.
