Budget carrier Wiz Air announced it would launch two new routes starting October, towards Basel in Switzerland and Nuremberg in Germany both routes with a frequency of two flights weekly, according to TheDiplomat.ro.The two flights will be operated from Bucharest-based airport Henri Coanda and also, the airtport at Cluj-Napoca will operate a flight to Nuremberg. The flights from Bucharest will be launched starting October 26 while the flights from Cluj-Napoca airport will start beginning with October 1.
For the next winter, Wizz Air will operate seven aircrafts at Bucharest. Currently, Wizz Air flies on 84 routes towards 40 destinations. The most popular routes, such as Londra Luton has 9 weekly flights from Cluj-Napoca and 20 weekly flights from Bucharest. The route to Malaga is available all year long, the company stated.
In 2013, Wizz Air carried 3.2 passengers from and to Romania, compared to 2.7 million in 2012. From Bucharest, Wizz Air transported approximately 1.7 million passengers. In Romania, Wizz Air operates on five airports and, starting this summer, it will fly also from the airport at Craiova, to six routes.
The Hungarian flight operator operates a fleet of 46 aircrafts on 17 bases and 300 routes, linking 95 destinations in 35 countries.
