Wizz Air Carries 15% More Passengers In 2013

Wizz Air recorded in Romania, in 2013, an increase by 15 per cent in the number of passengers, to 3.2 million respectively, from 2.7 million a year earlier, said the airline’s deputy CEO John Stephenson, according to aviationpros.com.According to the cited source, the increase in the number of passengers carried on the market in Romania accelerated in the first two months of 2014, as well as in the entire Wizz Air network, having reached 22 per cent.

‘In the last almost 12 months, we have added 11 new routes from Bucharest, and 24 ones nationwide. Given this trend, the increase in the number of passengers carried in 2013 stood at 15 per cent. We recorded an increase in the number of passengers to 3.2 million from 2.7 million a year earlier. In January and February, the increase accelerated, as well as in the entire Wizz network. The number of passengers carried from Bucharest rose to 1.7 million, which is a growth rate of 15per cent, and the growth has stepped up lately, up to 22 per cent,’ the airline’s official said.

In Romania, Wizz Air has five bases – Bucharest, Cluj Napoca, Timisoara, Targu Mures and Craiova, the last to be launched in 2014.

‘In Craiova, we will open the base in July this year and will introduce six new routes,’ he added.
