Candidate of the Democrat-Liberal Party (PD-L) Traian Basescu on Saturday participated in an electoral meeting held in Lucian Blaga Square of Cluj-Napoca. Traian Basescu told his supporters that he would continue the reform of the state together with PM Emil Boc if he became president for a new term-in-office. He thanked Emil Boc for the extended support. Traian Basescu participated in Cluj in the first debate organised at the beginning of the electoral campaign with liberal counter candidate Crin Antonescu.President Traian Basescu said he was in favour of the modification of the election law, the head of the state supporting a uninominal vote that will not allow the persons who do not hold the first place in the college to enter Parliament. Approaching the issue referring to state reform, President Basescu said that the introduction of a clean, one-round or two-round uninominal vote would be necessary. In this respect he stressed that if became president for the second term-in-office he would continue to endorse the modification of the uninominal law, with a view to removing the system of compensation.
