One engineer and four electricians, aged between 36 and 41, died Saturday in the blast from Uricani Mine.According to a press release from the National Pit Coal Company (CNH) Petroşani, the five employees of the Uricani Mine who died in the mine explotion were aged between 36 and 41. The team of electricians working on the defective power transformer was run by the engineer Cosmin Calotă aged 36. The other four that lost their lives were the electricians Marian Cucu aged 41, Cornel Borchici aged 36, Iulian Stoi aged 36 and Ion Nădrag aged 37.
On the other hand, the CNH press release confirms that a second explosion occurred in the mine. “While evacuating the victims, the rescuing team felt the blast as they were close to the surface. Fortunately, this second explosion did not cause any victims” the same press release shows.
