Cluj will become the only Romanian city to have two botanical gardens. In addition to the garden founded by the scientist Alexandru Borza after the First World War, the second botanical garden will belong to the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine. The front yard of the University has already been arranged as a dendrologic park which includes almost all of the various tree species existent in Europe that grow in the continental climate. The University Management is also going to arrange greenhouses for plants which grow in hot climates. The greenhouses will be built near the medieval ruins which are on the University’s property. The botanical garden will be the place of scientific research conducted by the academic staff and by the students but it will also be open to the public.
