Nigerian striker Derrick Ogbu has reportedly sealed a move to Romanian club CFR Cluj from Belgian outfit OH Leuven. The 23-year-old scored 18 goals in two seasons with the Jupiler Pro League outfit and is widely regarded as one of Nigerian football’s top talents.
A statement on Cluj’s official website read: „The Nigerian striker, Derick Ogbu Chuka, had joined our team, CFR 1907 Cluj! Welcome to our club and we wish you good luck in this new season.”
Ogbu joins compatriot Obiora Nwankwo at the Dr. Constantin Radulescu stadium and although the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner admitted he knows little about his fellow Nigerian, he welcomes the striker’s arrival at the club.
„To be honest, I haven’t been following his progress in Belgium,” the 22-year-old told SuperSport.com.
„But the scouts at Cluj are among the best in the world. If they identify a player, then you can be sure the player is special. I am sure he (Ogbu) will have a great time here and I will do my best to make him feel at home.”
