It has been reported all over local and national newspapers that Sheffield Wednesday are on the verge of signing Marseille winger, Modou Sougou. This has potentially been confirmed today on Wednesday strikers Sergiu Bus’ Instragram profile, according to the72.co.uk.Bus and Sougou have history, both playing for Romanian side, CFR Cluj together.
For Wednesday fans that don’t know, Modou Sougou is a 30 year old Senegalese winger who has made 14 appearances for his country. His last spell was out on loan at Ligue 1 club, Evian TG.
After coming through the ranks at Senegalese side AS Douanes. He spent 7 years playing in Portugal for 3 different clubs, Uniao Leiria, Vitoria and Academica. Arguably, Sougou’s best spell was at Academica, where he played 80 league games scoring 19 goals. This is where he met Sergiu Bus when he signed for CFR Cluj in 2011.
His first season in Romania was perfect, scoring 10 goals and assisting 15 which helped Cluj win the Romanian Premier League. He then got a big money move to French giants Marseille for an estimated 4.5 million euros. He didn’t really do much at the club and only played 19 games after being regarded as an important player when signed by the club.
