Romanian table toppers CFR Cluj have appointed Italian coach Andrea Mandorlini as the new man in charge only days after the departure of Antonio Conceicao. The Portuguese coach recently got the sack following Cluj’s disappointing performances in the Europa League. Three defeats in a row have left them bottom of Group K. Conceicao was installed in April and aided victories in the Romanian Cup and Romanian Super CupThe 49-year-old Mandorlini has coaching experience in Italy dating back to 1993 and has enjoyed spells at Bologna, Atalanta, Vicenza and Spezia.
Cluj are on course for their second Romanian title in three years, 13 games into the season. It’s now up to Mandorlini to make sure they stay on the right track, as well as to help Cluj to the next round of the Europa League.
