Former Oregon State women’s basketball player El Sara Greer has signed a professional contract with Romanian team SCM CSS Craiova, announced Tuesday.“I’m super excited to be able to go on this new experience,” Greer said. “I never really thought about playing pro after college when I came to Oregon State, but playing at the Pac-10 level and having the success I had last season, I realized I wanted to keep playing as long as my body would let me. So I’m very thankful for this opportunity.”
Greer, a 6-2 forward from Waterloo, Iowa, transferred to Oregon State from Kirkland Community College in 2009. She started every game for the Beavers in her two seasons, setting the single season school record for blocked shots with 92, also tying the Pac-10 single season record.
She capped her college career being named to the All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention squad and Pac-10 All-Defensive Team. And her double-double against Oregon to lead the Beavers to a 20-point come-from-behind win earned her Pac-10 Player of the Week Honors.
SCM CSS Craiova opens its season on Saturday, October 1 against Cluj Napoca.
