Cluj Innovation Days 2015: The City of Cluj, Regional Innovation HQ for a Week

Over 400 programmers, IT managers, academics and businesspeople participate on March 19-20th in Cluj-Napoca at the third edition of Cluj Innovation Days, the most important event dedicated to innovation in Central and Eastern Europe. Specialists from Germany, Austria, UK, France, Italy, USA, and Romania, as well as ambassadors and representatives of the European Commission are among the invited guests of the regional forum.“At last year’s edition we focused on IT tools for innovation and added value, and this year we talk about the process and stakeholders involved within the technological transfer. The participants will have the occasion to develop together strategies aimed at fostering innovation and successful ideas. Moreover, the participants will have the possibility to get inspired by the diverse experience of the speakers and get connected with leaders, researchers and European or national deciders working in this field,” Alexandru Tulai, the President of Cluj IT Cluster, organizer of Cluj Innovation Days stated.
The forum will include plenary sessions, specific panels, networking moments, a researchers’ dedicated event, presentations of products and services, and a debate related to Cluj Innovation City. Three panels are prepared on the following topics: “Mastering Innovation”, “Tech Track: Mastering Technology” and “Business Track: Mastering Innovation”.
Together with four other events dedicated to IT and innovation, the organizers have created a proper week of innovation in IT. “Between March 14th and 20th, Cluj becomes the regional center of innovation. We have planned an entire week dedicated to the IT field and the innovative potential of this part of Europe: we start with Cluj City Hackathon, continue with the Job Shop fair dedicated to the IT field, the inauguration of the Young Entrepreneur Organization, the Pioneers Unplugged Conference for start-ups and finish with Cluj Innovation Days, the most important event gathering the whole IT community”, Andrei Kelemen, the Executive Director of Cluj IT Cluster, explained. Overall, more than one thousand people will be involved in the IT Innovation Week of Cluj-Napoca.
The partners of the 2015 edition of Cluj Innovation Days are: Orange, BCR, Oracle Partner Network, Intel, Google, Cluj Innovation Park, Deloitte, Brained City, Steinbeis Europa Zentrum, Research for Industry, Cluj Hub, Outlead Marketing, Node Designs, Vitrina Advertising, Tarom, Grand Hotel Napoca, Student’s House of Culture in Cluj, Cluj-Napoca Local Council and City Hall.
Cluj IT is an innovation cluster founded in October 2012 and composed of over 40 members: IT companies, universities and research institutes, public institutions, and catalyzing organizations. The cluster is aimed at raising the competitiveness of the IT sector a long with the visibility of the Romanian IT industry. Meanwhile, the cluster seeks to position Cluj-Napoca as a hub of regional innovation. The cluster is supported by the Romanian Government and the local authorities.
