US infrastructure group Bechtel has delivered a further ten kilometres of the 415-km Transylvanian Highway (Autostrada Transilvania), bringing the total finished amount to 53 km.Sections on the Brasov to Bors route are now open between Gilau and Turda and Campia Turzii. Bechtel is now working on the 64 km Bors-Barcau sector. The construction of the motorway started in 2004 and its initially proposed finish date of 2013 is looking increasingly unlikely, unless the Government allocates more cash from the state budget.
