Jazz at Bran Castle 2nd Edition 2014

The Foundation Jazz Festivals & Events, jointly with Compania de Administrare a Domeniului Bran, hereby announce the organization of the 2nd Edition of Festival Jazz at Bran Castle between August 29 to 31, 2014, taking place in the unique ambiance of Bran Castle and Rasnov Evangelic Church.

Jazz at Bran Castle is an original event willing to become a tradition for jazz music lovers, able to use and increase the cultural prestige of Bran Castle and Romania.

The concerts shall take place from Friday to Sunday, starting with 19:00, hosted by the courtyard of Bran Castle and Saturday, at 12:00, in Rasnov Evangelic Church.

At this second edition of JABC also, the outlines of perfoming talents in the festival enclose
some important names of the European jazz scene, such as the French duo, the accordionist Vincent Peirani, praised as the revelation artist of this year in France and the saxophonist Emile Parisien, awarded as the musician of the year in same country; the trumpeter Nils Petter Molvaer, who will enjoy us with his group with their most recent project “Switch”; the versatile Italian musician Daniele Di Bonaventura, who enchanted the public of Jazz at Bran Castle last year with his bandoneon, will reveal his piano talent now, as a Romanian premiere, said talent being praised and promoted by the label owned by the well-known Sardinian trumpeter Paolo Fresu, and last, but not the least, the exceptional Danish piano player Carsten Dahl, acclaimed as the actual leader of Danish piano, who will perform together with the legendary trumpeter Palle Mikkelborg surrounded by harp accords of Helen Davies and drum beats of the most praised musician Paolo Vinaccia, who is by now a customary presence of Romania jazz scene and also a promoter of various musical projects.

On the other hand, into a Barocco environment of Rasnov Evangelic Church, the Norwegian Duo ( saxophones and church organ) including Trygve Seim and Andreas Utnem will remind us the distinctive sound of jazz under a church vault, became a tradition for Bucharest jazz scene.

The most visited touristic venue of Romania, Bran Castle, will revamp itself for few days into an international jazz citadel.
